My success hinges on the relationships I am able to build with clients. My approach is to challenge clients to distill their business concepts to their essence and eschew convention to enhance their market differentiation. So far, it has worked.
My wife, Laury, my son, Luka, my daughter, Lyla, and our dog, Sullivan, split time between an apartment in Pilsen and my family's farm in Lowell, Indiana. I am a live music fanatic and a third-generation, die-hard Cubs fan.
Kevin Barker
I'm a licensed architect and the founding principal of Barker Nestor, Inc., a Chicago‑based architecture and design studio I co‑founded in 1997. Under my leadership, the firm has become known for its vibrant hospitality and entertainment projects across the U.S.
My expertise lies in hospitality — ranging from boutique hotels and flagship coffee shops to restaurants, casinos, and clubs. I have overseen the design of iconic Chicago spaces like Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea (Wicker Park), Madison Bar + Kitchen (West Loop), and La Serre (opened 2024), among others.
Over my career, my projects have totaled over $500 million in development, spanning ground-up hotels, national chain rollouts, breweries, athletic clubs, museums, and theaters — with firm licensing in approximately 20 states.
